All the while I was away, you were with me everyday...

What a great sentiment - "All the while I was away, you were with me everyday".  Nicole I hope you don't mind me sharing this with our friends.  We were asked to make a quilt out of Air Force uniforms (later to find out it was winter uniforms, which are heavy).  Of course I answered the phone that day, Jackie is scared for me to take orders now, because my motto is, "we can try to do anything one time, right?"  Nicole, our customer, and her husband are serving our country in the Air Force, which we admire and respect those who do.  But after working with their uniforms, even more respect.  Did I tell you about how heavy their outfits are?  We don't know how they work in them and carry all of their equipment.

Anyway, Nicole called and asked if we would make this quilt keeping most of their uniforms in tack.  The pockets are still usable and patches can be reattached.  So this is a one of a kind quilt from Quirky Quilts-I learned my lesson (until the next time of course).

Air Force Quilt 93" x 103"

Our friend Geri bailed us out by quilting it and she did a great job so that we can still use the zippers on the flight suits, jacket and pant pockets.  Geri, thank you!!!

So here are some facts about this queen-size quilt:
  • It weighs 15 pounds
  • 52 buttons were sewn onto this quilt (and no I did not keep the left over buttons for my collection)
  • There are 4 zipper openings (jackets/flight suit)
  • 25 Button pockets
  • 5 Velcro pockets
  • 11 Zipper pockets
Nicole, thank you for letting us be a part of your quilt.  From Jackie and me, to you, your family, and those serving in the Military, thank you for your service.
