The weekend...

The weekend is finally here and that means there will be a sewing day.  Today's excitement has been booking rooms for the 2015 QuiltCon in Austin, Texas.  You have to love going to Texas - barbque, Blue Bell ice cream, cowboys.  Well, the times I have been to Texas I didn't see too many cowboys, but LOTS of quilters.  Maybe next year.

Isn't this quilt amazing, hope we will see you there.

Happy Valentines Day!

Heart Quilt 2014 by Kim McPeake

Happy Valentine's Day!

I just finished sewing the binding onto my heart quilt.  I love reading blogs, especially quilter's blogs and was inspired to make the above quilt.  Nicole Daksiewicz of Modern Handcraft for Dear Stella created a tutorial for "The Big Love" Quilt".  I fell in love with this quilt and had to have one of my own.  Are you like me and drool over quilts on blogs, books, wherever and say, "I am going to make that quilt someday".  You put the idea of that quilt on your excel spreadsheet of projects and that's where it ends.  Me too!  But this time, I made the quilt.

It is very easy, just half-square triangles.  I did change the size of mine, the squares finish at 6 inches instead of 9 1/2 inches.  So my quilt finished at 36" x 42".  I quilted a straight line every 1/2 inch with pretty pink thread.  This is the back of my quilt.

Too precious for words.  Have a great weekend and thank you Nicole Daksiewicz for sharing this pattern.
