Block Swap blocks

Well, the Charleston Modern Quilt Guild is not meeting this month or next due to holidays (we meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month).  So we will deliver 2 months (November & December) of blocks for the Modern Block swap at our holiday party in a couple of weeks.  Delynne asked us to make a "Tic-Tac-Toe" blocks for her:

Delynne's blocks from Jackie & Kim

For Ginny we made "Follow the Leader", she supplied the background fabric and we used blues, greens, grays, and browns from our stash.  We made flying geese units from 2 1/2 inches to 5 1/2 inches.  But your blocks had to finish at:  12 1/2" x 16 1/2".

I think they are going to make some amazing quilts.  So in the New Year, we only have two more people (we started this swap over a year ago) so our block swap will be ending and new challenges will be issued for our guild.  We can't wait to see whats next.

Right now we have two quilts at the long arm quilters in hopes to getting them back a week or two before Christmas so that we can finish our 2013 t-shirt quilt orders.  It has been amazing the number of calls we have received this past couple of weeks for t-shirt quilts as Christmas presents.  While we don't want to turn away customers, we have because it is only a month until Christmas, which is not enough time to complete a quilt.  As you know from our blog, we make the quilt top and send it out to the professionals to be quilted with an all-over design.

My favorite part of quilt making is purchasing fabric and cutting it into little pieces only to sew them back together again.  It is amazing how colors and design can change the same block pattern.  So if we disappointed you by not taking your order, we hope that you will consider us in the new year to make your quilts come true.
